The new BMW X1 is an extra-small luxury crossover that checks the boxes for technology, style, and safety components. The X1 has roomy seats in a spacious cabin and many upscale components. A responsive accelerator and sporty handling system are other notable attributes of the BMW X1.
Two engines are available with the BMW X1. The base engine is a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit with an output of 241 horsepower, and it produces a maximum of 295 pound-feet of torque. You can also get a sportier version of the base engine that is specially tuned to produce 312 horsepower and up to 295 pound-feet of torque.
The standard drivetrain with the BMW X1 is all-wheel drive. A seven-speed automatic transmission is included with either engine that you get near Michigan City.
Inside, the BMW X1 has a spacious cabin despite its small size. The X1 has a relatively boxy design that maximizes interior space. Besides plenty of legroom and headroom, the BMW X1 also has much space in either row. There is plenty of technology with the BMW X1. The BMW X1 has a digital instrument panel, a standard 10.7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto™, and Apple CarPlay®. Navigation comes with the base model as well. A wireless charging pad is available with a package, and you can also get a head-up display, an augmented reality overlay for the navigation system, and a drive recorder.

Ambient lighting is also standard, and the base trim has synthetic leather seats. An interior camera, Harman Kardon sound system, and wireless charging pad are optional. The M35i xDrive has a stronger standard engine, and it includes a premium sound system and wireless charging pad.
Sport seats are available only for the M35i, but you can add a remote engine start, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats to both trims.
